Currie & Brown is currently looking for an individual with either a design or building control-based background to deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer and CDM Principal Designer role within our Glasgow project team. The successful candidate will ensure project compliance with the current building regulations, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our recognised reputation as a preferred service provider.

Your core duties will involve:

  • Complying with the responsibilities of the Principal Designer under the Building Regulations and CDM Regulations 2015
  • Leading all Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) commissions, including resource coordination, fee management, and reporting to the Director of Health & Safety
  • Reviewing and commenting on design risk and compliance documentation
  • Producing, reviewing, and updating compliance risk registers and project coordination records
  • Supporting clients with competence declarations
  • Overseeing reviews of full design packages, coordinating technical input from internal specialists and identifying Building Regulations compliance issues
  • Assisting in producing Building Regulations conformance statements and fulfilling BRPD statutory duties
  • Determining involvement during construction, including inspections, information requirements, and Principal Contractor liaison
  • Conducting periodic site inspections as required
  • Coordinating review of design changes that may impact Building Regulations or CDM compliance
  • Ensuring required documentation is uploaded to agreed client information platforms
