The role involves joining our Haywards Heath office as an apprentice quantity surveyor. The successful candidate will work on exciting construction projects and join a team delivering benefits and a lasting legacy for the communities in which we live and work. You will be given training and development opportunities to support project leaders in generating a high standard of knowledge across service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.
The successful applicant will attend university on a part-time basis, one day per week, to gain a degree in quantity surveying, while working in the office for the other four days. You will need to have the prerequisite school or college qualifications to gain entry onto a university course to study a BSc Quantity Surveying degree.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the production of feasibility cost estimates
- Undertaking measurement and quantification using software solutions
- Supporting the preparation of tender documentation
- Reviewing tender documentation, which will initially involve data capture for benchmarking and future cost plans
- Attending project/client meetings and taking minutes
- Assisting in the delivery of professional services to clients in our cost consultancy teams
- Recording pricing of variations and project changes
Requirements:
- 96 UCAS points to join the apprentice quantity surveying degree course
- Experience using Word, PowerPoint and Excel desired
- Ability to adapt, working independently and as part of a team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Aptitude to learn and have a strong desire to become a chartered quantity surveyor
- A team player with a can-do attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
- Proactive in your approach to learning and working at the same time
