The Trainee Solicitor will support the delivery of high quality, commercially focused legal advice across the firm’s client base.

This role provides structured training and hands on experience across a range of legal matters, combining technical development with meaningful client exposure. The Trainee Solicitor will work closely with supervising solicitors and senior colleagues to build strong legal foundations, sound judgement and confident client handling skills.

The role offers genuine responsibility from an early stage, balanced with supervision, mentoring and ongoing feedback.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Legal advice and drafting
  • Support the provision of legal advice to clients across a range of matters.
  • Draft and review contracts, policies, handbooks and other legal documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of letters of advice, reports and client correspondence using firm templates and precedents.
  • Ensure advice is technically accurate, clearly communicated and aligned with firm values and service standards.

Client support and engagement

  • Support client relationships through responsive communication and professional service delivery.
  • Conduct client review meetings where appropriate, with supervision.
  • Assist with proactive client engagement initiatives and legal “health checks”.
  • Identify opportunities for additional work or support and record these in line with firm processes.

Research and knowledge development

  • Undertake legal research to support client advice and internal projects.
  • Contribute to legal updates, internal briefings and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law developments.

Professional development and compliance

  • Work towards qualification in line with SRA requirements.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and service standards.
  • Maintain accurate file management and comply with regulatory and internal governance requirements.
  • Seek and respond positively to supervision and feedback to support continuous development.

Skills and attributes

  • Completion of an LLB or equivalent law qualification (or conversion course)
  • Completing the Legal Practice Course (or working towards it)
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness and pragmatic approach
  • Professional, proactive and collaborative attitude
  • Previous paralegal or legal work experience
  • Experience drafting contracts or formal legal documentation
  • Client-facing experience in a professional services environment
