Make a Meaningful Impact on Ethics in Research Involving Animals. Strategic, Influential Role with Broad Stakeholder Engagement. Full-time appointment on an ongoing basis. Base salary range: $116,262 – $127,078 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Office of Research provides professional and expert support services to facilitate research excellence and knowledge transfer at the University. It is also at the forefront in executing the University’s research strategy. The Research Ethics and Compliance team in the Research Ethics and Integrity office is responsible for ensuring that the University upholds the highest ethical standards in conducting research that involves animals, human participants, biological safety and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

About the opportunity

  • Provide high level support and expert advice to the Animal Ethics Committee and researchers on issues to do with animal ethics.
  • Establish and improve administrative processes and procedures to ensure the effective operation of animal ethics review.
  • Review and amend university policies in respect to the legal and compliance responsibilities of the Animal Ethics Committees to ensure they are adequate.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in animal science or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Sound knowledge and high-level expertise in regulatory codes and legislation relating to the ethical conduct of research involving animals.
  • Substantial process management experience in the higher education sector at an appropriate level.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to work in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to long term planning and strategic direction at an influential level.

Note: Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current National Police Clearance.
