Job Title: Systems Engineer
Salary: £37,769 – £43,815 per annum, plus potential skill-set allowance of £1,000-£4,500
Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire (Porton Down site)

The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be degree-qualified in a STEM discipline and bring strong technical capability in systems engineering or systems thinking. You will be confident working independently and collaboratively, with experience in defining system-level requirements, developing architecture models, and producing high-level technical documentation. A background in cyber, software, or hardware integration is highly desirable.
The Role:
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant projects within the Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) domain. You will work closely with stakeholders to shape system-level solutions, ensuring technical integrity and safety across complex programmes. The position offers autonomy, variety, and the chance to influence the development of future defence capabilities.
Key Duties:
- Define and refine system-level requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop logical and physical enterprise architecture models.
- Ensure technical integrity and safety using robust systems engineering principles.
- Identify standards and interfaces to support open systems approaches.
- Produce and maintain high-level technical documentation.
- Synthesise information from diverse sources into actionable insights.
- Shape and drive your own workstreams with autonomy.
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in a relevant STEM discipline
- Experience applying systems engineering or systems thinking methodologies.
- Ability to tackle complex, non-routine problems and draw meaningful technical conclusions.
- Awareness of software engineering in the context of hardware and Embedded systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
