The Candidate:
You will be an experienced accounting professional with at least 4 years of practice experience and qualified to AAT Level 4 (or equivalent). You will be confident preparing accounts and tax returns across a variety of client types and able to complete files with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills and proficiency with software like Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks are essential.
The Role:
As a Semi Senior Accountant, you will support a varied portfolio of clients, assisting with the preparation of accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships. You will manage tax returns, perform capital gains calculations, and support junior colleagues, all within a hybrid, flexible working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Prepare company and individual tax returns
- Perform capital gains calculations
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Conduct corporation tax computations and basic tax planning
- Visit clients and provide support on-site
- Maintain and update client records and bookkeeping
- Prepare management accounts
- Liaise with HMRC
- Supervise and mentor trainees and junior team members
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Essential Requirements:
- AAT Level 4 (or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years of practice experience
- Proficiency with accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, Xero)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent client-facing skills
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Experience with basic tax planning
