Due to expansion, we are looking to recruit an additional Private Wealth Solicitor for our busy team. As a Private Wealth Solicitor at Curle Stewart, you will provide legal advice and services to high-net-worth and private clients on a range of succession matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, advising on succession planning, estate administration, trust administration, and tax-efficient wealth structuring. You will work closely with clients to understand their circumstances, manage files, liaise with third-party advisers, and ensure matters progress efficiently and compliantly. The role involves collaboration with colleagues across the firm to support client transactions and broader commercial interests. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow.
Required Experience
- Preparing and advising on Wills and Powers of Attorney;
- High net worth and ultra-high net worth Inheritance Tax planning including advising on asset transfers, lifetime and death planning;
- Creation and variation of Trusts;
- Trust administration including calculation of 10 year and exit charges;
- Winding up trusts; and
- Negotiating with HM Revenue and Customs.
The right candidate will also
- Be a qualified Solicitor in Scotland with a strong background in private client work;
- Have excellent mathematic skills;
- Have proven technical expertise in wills, estates, trusts, and general succession planning;
- Have excellent client care, compliance, communication and relationship-building skills;
- Have a strong commercial awareness and ability to contribute to the growth of the firm;
- Be able to manage a full case load proactively and independently as well as working collaboratively with the team;
- Be able to work to financial targets;
- Assist with training junior staff;
- Ideally have 3 years PQE+ experience in the private client/wealth field; and
- Speak fluent English and have the right to work in Scotland.
Preferred experience but not essential
- Be STEP qualified (or working towards it);
- Guardianship and Intervention Order court experience;
- Contentious estates and trusts experience;
- Cross border estate planning experience; and
