Job Description
The client is an established UK practice with multiple studios across the UK, is looking to appoint a Director and Head of Residential for their London studio. This is a new role within the studio, with the vision to develop and expand their residential offering in the South of the UK.
The practice covers a wide range of sectors, including education, masterplanning, residential, retail, commercial, and office spaces. They are looking for a leader who can drive growth in the residential sector, working alongside the wider leadership team to shape their offering in the region.
The Director and Head of Residential will be responsible for defining the studio’s residential offering, reviewing and building upon existing work that has been developed, and creating a compelling offering to appeal to southern developers, brokers, and clients. The role will require a hands-on approach, client-facing work, project management, and being hands-on in the projects. There will be an expectation to be closely involved in the projects, so architects who still enjoy being hands-on would suit this opportunity.
While the company has established connections across the UK, they are not expecting a pre-existing network. However, in time, you will be expected to develop your own client base and relationships. The position is ideal for an architect looking to step into a leadership role within a well-supported, multi-disciplinary practice, offering a wide range of experience and development opportunities.
The studio is keen to expand their focus to include larger-scale housing, with a particular emphasis on medium to high-volume residential projects, rather than one-off private residences. They are eager to strengthen their presence in the Southern regions, aiming to expand their brand and increase their footprint in the broader housing sector.
Responsibilities:
- Define the residential offering for the southern regions.
- Leverage an existing client base and connections to expand and grow relationships in the residential sector.
- Build and lead a growing team.
- Lead the design and delivery of high-quality residential projects.
- Represent the practice at industry events, panels, and talks.
Skills and Experience:
- 15+ years of experience as an architect.
- ARB/RIBA qualified
- Significant experience in leading large-scale residential projects from concept to completion.
- Proven track record in managing and delivering large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of the RIBA process and the ability to run projects through all stages.
- Experience managing and mentoring teams and collaborating with other departments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about residential design and looking for a leadership role within a growing practice. If you are ready to take the next step in your career and lead a dynamic team, we would love to hear from you. We see this as a move for someone keen on stepping away from politically-led structures and focusing on a singular sector. This is an opportunity to develop your own personal brand and build a successful practice.
