We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Managing Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of NHS and private healthcare services. This is an exceptional opportunity for a proven healthcare leader with significant executive-level experience to lead organisational recovery, transformation, and sustainable growth. Reporting directly to the Board and working closely with the Executive Partner and Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for delivering key financial, operational, quality, and workforce objectives while ensuring the organisation remains focused on providing outstanding services to patients and stakeholders.
The Role
As Managing Director, you will provide executive leadership across Operations, Finance, Estates, Contracting & Performance, IT & Digital Transformation, and Private Healthcare Services.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the organisation's recovery, transformation, and performance improvement programmes.
- Delivering financial sustainability, cost improvement initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
- Providing strategic oversight of NHS and private healthcare service delivery.
- Ensuring robust governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and organisational assurance.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve productivity, service performance, and patient outcomes.
- Building strong relationships with NHS commissioners, regulators, healthcare partners, and commercial stakeholders.
- Leading and developing a high-performing senior leadership team.
- Driving digital transformation and innovation through effective use of data, technology, and process redesign.
- Developing governance frameworks, performance reporting, and management information to support informed decision-making.
- Identifying and mitigating strategic and operational risks that could impact organisational objectives.
Essential Experience
- Significant senior or executive-level leadership experience within NHS and/or private healthcare organisations.
- Experience leading large operational teams and senior management functions.
- Proven success delivering financial recovery, turnaround, cost improvement, or organisational transformation programmes.
- Experience managing significant budgets and delivering financial performance.
- Strong track record of managing NHS contracts and healthcare services with successful outcomes.
- Experience overseeing private or commercial healthcare services.
- Demonstrable success delivering digitally enabled transformation programmes, utilising technology, automation, data, and process improvement.
- Significant experience leading organisational change and workforce transformation initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working alongside commissioners, regulators, healthcare providers, and external partners.
- Experience presenting complex performance, financial, and operational information at Board and Executive level.
Essential Qualifications
- Educated to Master's level in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent senior-level experience.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
