CureAge Therapeutics is a pre-clinical gene therapy company on a mission to cure peripheral nerve diseases, starting with Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). We are developing a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) platform designed to deliver next-generation genetic payloads to peripheral nerve tissue. We are a small, highly motivated founding team operating at the interface of gene therapy, rare disease biology, and translational science. CureAge was co-founded with Deep Science Ventures and the Children’s Tumor Foundation. The company has a very intense connection with NF families.
What We Offer
- Be part of the core team. You will be the first scientist on the UK site and a core member of the team, with a real voice in shaping CureAge's scientific vision and company culture.
- Build something from scratch. Lead CureAge's first UK research bench at the Victoria House Open Lab Space - a world-class pre-clinical environment in the heart of London.
- Work that matters. NF1 patients currently have no disease-modifying treatment. You will work closely with patients and clinical collaborators, keeping the human impact of your research.
- Collaborate with the best. Work directly with the founding team and access a growing network of leading scientists, clinicians, and advisors who share our mission.
- Competitive salary and permanent contract in a company at the start of its journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Lab management: establish and manage CureAge’s first research bench at the VH Open Lab Space; maintain day-to-day operations including inventory, reagent ordering and compliance.
- Patient samples: manage collaboration with a London NHS hospital to obtain neurofibroma patient tissue and derive primary NF1 cell cultures (Schwann cells and related cell types).
- Prototype testing: set up and validate cellular and biochemical assays (proliferation, viability, gene expression); to test gene therapy components.
- External collaboration: work closely with leading scientific collaborators.
Requirements
- PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience or a closely related field.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership in a small start-up environment.
- Hands-on experience with cloning, cell culture models, primary cells and image analysis.
Recommended
- Knowledge of NF1 biology, Schwann cell biology, or peripheral nerve diseases.
- Experience with LNP formulation/delivery or gene therapy modalities.
- Experience in a start-up or early-stage biotech environment.
