Cure Talent is delighted to partner with a global manufacturing company undergoing a significant growth phase. As part of this, we have a newly created role for a COMAH & Process Safety Specialist to support the site's journey towards future COMAH compliance as new manufacturing processes are introduced. This is not a traditional Process Safety Engineer or HSE role. Working alongside engineering specialists responsible for process design and technical safety, this position will focus on developing and embedding the procedures, governance systems, training programmes, emergency preparedness arrangements and management processes required to support a major hazard manufacturing environment. The site is preparing for future COMAH status as significant new manufacturing capability is introduced. This role will play a key part in building the systems, behaviours and organisational framework required to support long-term COMAH readiness across a highly regulated manufacturing operation. Key responsibilities: Lead the site's COMAH readiness programme, supporting the development and implementation of the COMAH Safety Management System Maintain and develop the Major Accident Prevention Policy and associated major hazard governance systems Develop and embed process safety procedures, operational controls and competence frameworks across the site Lead Management of Change activities, ensuring procedural and behavioural controls are clearly defined, implemented and maintained Develop emergency response arrangements and major accident preparedness programmes Support training, workforce engagement and human factors initiatives relating to major hazard management Oversee DSEAR compliance, including risk assessments, action tracking and continuous improvement activities Support commissioning, validation and operational readiness activities for new manufacturing processes Work closely with Engineering, Operations and HSE teams to ensure process safety requirements are effectively integrated across the site What we’re looking for: Strong knowledge of COMAH and DSEAR regulations within a UK manufacturing environment Experience developing, implementing or maintaining COMAH-related management systems, governance frameworks, procedures, competence programmes or major hazard management systems Experience within a regulated manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical or major hazard environment Hands-on experience with process safety methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, SIL or similar risk assessment techniques Experience managing compliance programmes, action tracking systems and risk registers Experience developing procedures, training programmes, emergency response arrangements or operational process safety controls Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work across Engineering, Operations and HSE functions Degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline, plus a NEBOSH qualification This is an excellent opportunity to join a global organisation with significant investment and growth plans, offering a newly created position with real influence over the future direction of process safety and major hazard management across the site.
