Cure Talent is delighted to partner a leading UK manufacturer specialising in the design and production of high-quality packaging machinery solutions for the medical device industry. We are seeking a Design Manager to lead this company’s design and R&D function. This role will take ownership of the design department, ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant and cost-effective mechanical solutions while driving design strategy, team development, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the design engineering team to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
  • Oversee the design of packaging machinery, automation equipment, jigs and fixtures from concept through to commissioning
  • Ensure designs meet performance, cost, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage departmental processes, CAD systems, and design standards
  • Collaborate cross functionally to define specifications and support overall project delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, with experience at management level
  • Strong experience using SolidWorks, including exposure to PDM systems
  • Experience managing a mechanical design team within machinery, automation or capital equipment environments
  • Strong background in mechanical design, ideally with hands-on design engineer experience
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and machinery safety standards
