About the Company We are delighted to partner with an established medical device manufacturer developing and producing innovative products across bleeding control, women's health, advanced wound care, and infection prevention. With more than 25 years of experience, the business manages product development, clinical evaluation, manufacturing, regulatory support, and commercialization. Due to continued growth, increased project activity, they are seeking a Scientist to provide practical support to their R&D team. About the Role As Scientist, you will provide hands-on R&D support across new product development, line extensions, and design changes, with a particular focus on sterile, single-use medical devices. You will conduct laboratory-based physical and performance testing, support verification and validation activities, and contribute to process validation where required. Working closely with Technical, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Project Management, Laboratory, and Commercial teams, you will help progress projects from concept through launch and post-launch activity. The role also includes preparing and maintaining design history file documentation, supporting risk assessments and FMEAs, managing project priorities, and ensuring records remain accurate, complete, and audit ready. This is a six-month fixed-term opportunity. The team is open to a capable Scientist, and while more senior experience would be beneficial, graduates will be considered where they can demonstrate the right attitude, practical ability, and willingness to learn. About You You will be a capable, proactive, and practical scientist who is comfortable working in a laboratory and contributing across multiple projects. While more senior experience would be beneficial, the team is primarily looking for a scientist with the right attitude, willingness to get involved, and confidence to learn quickly. Graduates will be considered where they can demonstrate the required capability and approach. You will combine strong attention to detail with effective communication, sound organization, and the confidence to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. Role Responsibilities Conduct laboratory-based physical and performance testing, including method development and design verification studies, in line with applicable GLP requirements. Support new product development, line extensions, design changes, and validation activities from concept through to launch and post-launch review. Prepare and maintain design history files, FMEAs, design control records, and other technical documentation required for regulatory submissions and quality compliance. Act as the R&D representative within cross-functional project teams, providing accurate technical information and contributing to project decisions. Manage multiple priorities, maintain organized and audit-ready records, develop work plans, and escalate project risks or timeline challenges where appropriate. Key requirements / What we look for A degree or equivalent qualification in a science-based subject, such as microbiology, chemistry, or a related discipline. Graduates will be considered. Experience in the medical device sector, ideally involving product development, R&D, or sterile single-use devices, would be an advantage but is not essential. Practical laboratory experience is helpful, particularly physical or performance testing rather than solely analytical research. Experience with design history files, design controls, and regulated quality systems, including exposure to ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDR, or FDA requirements, is desirable. Strong organization, written and verbal communication, initiative, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
