About the Festival:
NOVUM Festival is an eclectic multi-arts event held annually at the Civic Centre and the Great North Museum Hancock in Newcastle. This festival celebrates a diverse blend of art, music, and dance, showcasing talent from around the world and providing interactive experiences for attendees of all ages.
Job Overview:
The Stage Manager will be responsible for overseeing the seamless execution of live music performance at the festival, coordinating with various teams and artists, and ensuring all performances run smoothly according to the festival's high standards.
- Collaborate with the production team to fully understand the event's requirements, including artists, band members, tour managers, and production managers.
- Maintain and manage a detailed schedule outlining all production activities, including sound checks, rehearsals, live performances, and generate daily show reports on activities for the Novum management team.
Stage Setup and Logistics:
- Work closely with audio and lighting technicians to ensure all music performances run to schedule.
- Manage stage changes and ensure smooth transitions between acts.
- Ensure artist hospitality requirements are met and available as per the riders / contractual agreements.
Rehearsal and Performance Management:
- Distribute and stick to detailed call sheets.
Artist Support and Communication:
- Serve as the primary liaison for artists and performers, addressing any needs or concerns.
- Problem-solve any issues that arise swiftly and efficiently.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
- Ensure a safe working environment on and around the stage.
- Be knowledgeable about the Event Management Plan and ready to implement emergency procedures if needed.
- Ensure all on-site teams have completed safety briefings.
Team Leadership and Coordination:
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, emphasising teamwork and effective communication.
- Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and adaptability in high-pressure situations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Stage Manager in large-scale festivals or similar events, preferably music.
- Strong organisational and leadership capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Technical knowledge of stage management systems and equipment.
- Passionate about arts and culture with a commitment to excellence in event production.
- First Aid Qualification and Disability Awareness Training desirable.
