As the first and highest rated CQC registered clinic in the UK, we are growing at scale and are seeking a part‑time, flexible remote working Consultant Pain, Neurology and Psychiatry Specialist to join our clinical team providing care for a diverse range of patients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Consultant Specialist to work with our clinical team and with the Medical Director & Consultant Pain Specialist Dr Michael Platt to evaluate and manage patients for consideration of treatment with medical cannabis. You will join a rapidly growing team of world‑class clinicians and will form an integral part of the multi‑disciplinary team and robust clinical governance processes for patients referred to Curaleaf Clinic. You will also support the UK medical cannabis registry which publishes outcomes regularly. Support will be given to the post holder to undertake the necessary competency based training.

Role Requirements

  • Certificate of Completion of Training / Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) or equivalent
  • Fellowship training, workshops or research (preferred)
  • Minimum three years of experience post CCT (preferred)

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide an effective and patient-focused medical cannabis service which is considerate and compassionate.
  • Organise, prioritise and evaluate workload based on accepted referral criteria and discharge criteria in line with operational protocols.
  • Provide clinical, social and psychological support to patients using excellent communication skills, education and health promotion to enable them to reach their optimum level of independence and health.
  • Provide advice, supervision and support to the defined caseload and peers.
  • Provide leadership in the multi‑disciplinary meeting and patient evaluation process.
  • Responsible for providing evidence‑based practice.
  • Use clinical knowledge and skills to ensure junior clinic staff are equipped with the necessary skills to competently assess, deliver and evaluate individual patient’s requirements within the limits of the job role.
  • Deal effectively and professionally with patient/service user issues collaborating with complaints as appropriate and take a proactive approach to resolving issues and learning from complaints and escalating when unable to resolve.
  • Maintain accurate, appropriate and concise patient records within agreed databases and electronic systems.
  • Contribute to the multi‑professional approach in the management of patients/carers within the specialist area in relation to ongoing care needs.
  • Review and follow‑up on patients as appropriate and ensure relevant information is provided within your own sphere of competency and refer to other members of the team as appropriate.
  • Attend and contribute to MDT meetings.
  • Actively involve service users in providing feedback of their experience of the current service and suggestions for improvements.
  • Be fully aware of Curaleaf’s operational and clinical policies.

  • Have responsibility for health, safety and welfare of self in the working environment following safe working practices and compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively manage and reduce risk to patients ensuring formal reporting and recording of adverse incidents in line with Curaleaf’s policy.
  • Utilise and maintain information systems to aid audit.
  • Maintain contemporaneous and accurate treatment record.

Personal Professional Development

  • Undertake relevant training and develop relevant skills and knowledge to achieve the range of clinical competencies required for this post.
  • Identify own training and development needs and undertake appropriate training/education as required.
  • Keep up‑to‑date with current literature and research in the speciality.
  • Maintain personal and professional development in accordance with GMC Revalidation, attending mandatory study sessions as required.
  • Undergo and actively participate in own performance appraisals.
  • Adhere to the GMC Code of Professional conduct and accept responsibility for maintaining agreed levels of competence.
  • Be aware of and work within own professional limitations and scope of practice.
