Senior Supervisor - Archaeology in Sheffield

Due to continuing growth and planned expansion, Cura Terrae Land and Nature is seeking a Senior Supervisor to join our Archaeology team based in Sheffield. Cura Terrae offers the opportunity to develop experience in both field- and office-based work, as well as offering exposure to wider environmental disciplines within the business. Your Role

• Ensure all archaeological works meet professional standards, Company policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
• Maintain proficiency in one or more key areas: excavation, field survey, and post-excavation work.
• Lead and deliver small- to medium-scale archaeological evaluations, excavations, and watching briefs.
• Work safely in line with Company Health & Safety procedures, reporting any concerns promptly to the Project Lead.
• Work independently under the direction of a Project Lead, taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of site activities and supervising small teams.
• Mentor trainees, Graduate Trainees, and Project Archaeologists as part of the Early Careers Training Programme.
• Proactively manage your workload and that of assigned staff to ensure delivery against agreed scopes, timelines, and budgets.
• Support post-excavation work and contribute to reporting, including pre-commencement documentation, with appropriate guidance.
• Transport teams to and from site using company pool or hired vehicles where required.
• Accurately record and report time, resources, and project activity within required systems and timeframes.
• Supervise subcontractors on site.
• Represent the Company professionally when liaising with clients, local authorities, stakeholders, and members of the public.

• Holds a full UK driving licence (essential).
• Holds, or is working towards, PCIfA / ACIfA / MCIfA accreditation (desirable but not essential).
• Comfortable working across different areas of the business as needed.
