Cura Terrae is seeking a highly self-directed Learning and Development Manager who can build our L&D function from the ground up. This new role is ideal for someone who thrives on autonomy, can create structure where none yet exists, and is motivated by the opportunity to design and deliver an organisation-wide learning strategy that will shape our future.

The opportunity…
As our first dedicated L&D professional, you’ll have full ownership of defining, building, and embedding Cura Terrae’s learning strategy. You will work closely with our People Team and senior leaders, taking the lead on developing learning platforms, career pathways, and leadership capability across the business. You’ll also forge partnerships with academic and professional institutions to strengthen apprenticeships, internships, and accredited development programmes.
This role suits someone confident in steering their own direction, spotting opportunities, and proactively driving initiatives from concept to delivery.
What you’ll be doing…
- Defining and delivering an organisation-wide Learning and Development strategy and roadmap.
- Implementing and managing a Learning Management System (LMS) and centralising training data for compliance, visibility, and succession planning.
- Scoping, creating and designing leadership and management programmes, future skills training, and talent development frameworks.
- Delivering in-house and online training aligned operational requirements.
- Establishing clear career pathways to support retention and professional growth.
- Building partnerships with universities, professional bodies, and innovation hubs.
- Supporting succession planning and career development initiatives across the organisation.
- Generating insights and reports to inform leadership decisions and track progress.
What we are looking for…
You’ll be a proactive, hands-on professional with proven experience of shaping and delivering L&D strategies. With strong organisational and project management skills, you’ll have the ability to partner with senior stakeholders, influence effectively, and bring innovation to Cura Terrae’s learning culture.
Essential experience includes:
- Proven experience of defining and implementing organisation-wide L&D strategies.
- Track record of scoping, costing, and delivering L&D projects.
- Successful implementation of an LMS or similar learning platform.
- Designing and delivering both in-person and online training programmes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Working within multi-site organisations or consultancy/professional services.
- Knowledge of future skills development (digital, AI, leadership).
- Building partnerships with academic or professional institutions.
