Cura Surveys Limited is seeking a reliable, friendly, and detail oriented Survey Technician to support our growing reality capture and measured survey workload.

This role focuses on site data capture and processing using modern survey technologies including terrestrial laser scanners, drones, and SLAM based mobile mapping systems.

The position is not limited to qualified land surveyors. Full training will be provided. We are primarily looking for someone with the right attitude, professionalism, and ability to work carefully in sensitive environments such as private homes, occupied buildings, and live construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

Site based responsibilities

  • Carrying out site data capture using terrestrial laser scanners
  • Operating SLAM based handheld and wearable scanning systems
  • Assisting with drone based data capture where required
  • Setting up and packing down equipment safely and carefully
  • Attending private residential properties and commercial sites in a professional and respectful manner
  • Liaising politely with homeowners, tenants, site managers, and clients

Office based responsibilities

  • Processing laser scan, SLAM, and drone data using specialist software
  • Assisting with point cloud registration and quality checks
  • Supporting the production of survey drawings and digital deliverables
  • Managing survey data and ensuring files are correctly named, stored, and backed up

Training and Development

  • Full training will be provided on all equipment and software
  • Ongoing support and mentoring from senior surveyors
  • Opportunity to develop specialist skills in laser scanning, drone surveying, and advanced reality capture
  • Clear progression pathway for the right candidate

Essential Requirements

  • Friendly, polite, and considerate manner
  • High level of professionalism when working in private homes and sensitive environments
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow procedures
  • Good communication skills, both in person and in writing
  • Ability to work independently once trained
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK and abroad and occasionally stay overnight if required
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence

Background and Character Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate must

  • Pass background and right to work checks
  • Have no relevant criminal convictions
  • Demonstrate good character and trustworthiness
  • Be comfortable working inside private residential properties

Desirable Experience

Any of the following would be advantageous but not essential

  • Property, construction, architecture, or real estate background
  • Surveying or geomatics experience
  • Experience with laser scanning, drones, or photogrammetry
  • CAD, point cloud, or 3D data processing experience
  • Experience working on live construction or occupied buildings
