An exciting opportunity exists for a Tyre Performance Engineer within our Vehicle Performance Group. The suitable candidate will be a key part of the Performance Group, being responsible for the optimisation of all tyre-related aspects of the Formula E car and having a strong impact on the overall chassis performance.

The ideal candidate should have a robust technical background in mechanical engineering with strong proven experience in tyre modelling, trackside tyre performance optimisation and vehicle dynamics.

Core Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to the development of the tyre science tools used by the performance group.
  • Responsible for the pre-event and post-event tyre-related reporting activities.
  • Responsible for the generation, correlation and maintenance of the tyre models used by the performance group.
  • Actively involved in DIL development activities, responsible for driver objective – subjective correlation and tyre model fine tuning.
  • Contribute to research and development activities relative to advanced tyre modelling and tyre-friction characterisation.
  • Work closely with race, performance and controls engineers to optimise the overall chassis performance during the race weekend.

Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Applied Mathematics or similar.
  • Prior experience in state-of-the-art tyre modelling, optimisation and correlation, including relevant background in vehicle dynamics and tyre-force generation mechanisms.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with MATLAB / Simulink.
  • Relevant experience in vehicle performance metric generation and objective – subjective correlation.
  • Previous trackside experience in motorsport / tyre testing activities will be advantageous.
