Overview
Safety Specialist Asset Delivery – to join the Asset Management and Delivery team at Yorkshire Water. This permanent, 37-hour-per-week role is based in Bradford with hybrid working (one to two days in the office per week).
Yorkshire Water is a Water Utility Company based in the Yorkshire region of England. Responsibilities
- Act as a source of competent health and safety advice to all business unit team members and drive the health and safety climate and behaviour in line with cultural improvement requirements.
- Act as the conduit for health and safety information with internal and external stakeholders and ensure Company Policy requirements are realised at Business Unit level.
- Undertake health and safety induction training for all new and existing employees.
- Own and manage business unit risk assessment levels of compliance in relation to task and generic assessments.
- Provide relevant information to the occupational health department on health surveillance requirements in relation to new substances and equipment proposals.
- Act as the point of contact to confirm requirements for statutory inspections.
- Formulate and communicate management procedures required by company policy.
- Ensure processes are implemented to achieve compliance with regulatory and YWS policy requirements.
- Assist in the development of the business unit competence framework and monitor compliance with framework requirements.
- Support specified roles, including team leaders, and contribute to the Serious Injury and Fatality Prevention Strategy.
- Ensure all sub-contractor services used within the Business Unit receive appropriate evaluation prior to use.
- Maintain reporting culture for near misses, hazards and incidents and document adequate closeouts within safeguard.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations of significant nature or as determined by the Contractor HSE Manager.
- Chair applicable SHE Forums as an active member and take ownership of key initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement via development, implementation and maintenance of leading and lagging H&S indicators.
- Coach Tier 2 and 3 managers in applying company health and safety standards/procedures.
- Deliver and oversee key H&S audits across multiple business areas.
- Coach and develop business unit team members in good health and safety practice.
- Undertake activities that gain additional health and safety assurance for the Business Unit as defined by the Contractor HSE Manager.
What Skills & Qualifications You Will Need
- NEBOSH Diploma or requisite level qualification and be a Chartered Member of IOSH.
- Current CPD programme via IOSH member grade requirements.
- Demonstrable experience of applying CDM from the perspectives of all duty-holding roles.
- Application of Process Safety controls and the Management of Change within a high hazard industry.
- Driving license and willingness to travel throughout the Yorkshire Region and other areas when required.
- Ability to coach, develop and influence others.
- IT literacy with PowerBI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Visio, with the ability to formulate and present information.
- Innovative in health and safety communication with an authoritative approach when required.
- Experience of working with Trade Unions as part of the continual improvement process.
