Environmental Sampler
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Sampler to join the Water Service Delivery at Yorkshire Water and help provide the best service to our customers.

Yorkshire Water ensures that over 5.4 million people in the region have access to clean and safe drinking water and that their wastewater is effectively managed. We protect the environment and plan for the future of Yorkshire’s water services.
Where you fit in:
As our Environmental Sampler , you will:
- Carry out UWW sample machine calibrations and sample point audits as required.
- Conduct sampling on wastewater treatment works as dictated by the regulatory sampling programme, collecting various wastewater quality samples.
- Perform other sampling as required, including AMP investigation sampling, bathing waters, river sampling, and tankered trade waste.
- Conduct on-site tests including pH, turbidity, ammonia, and total chlorine.
- Utilize Advantex and/or Sample Manager to maintain accurate sample records.
- Comply with OSM and UWWTD QMS Documents and ISO17025 accreditation.
- Maintain confidentiality of the Compliance Sampling Programmes and escalate any pressures to tamper with samples.
- Operate corporate systems such as Advantex, RTS, Odyssey, and Lab Systems as required.
- Maintain all allocated Company assets and adhere to company policy.
- Be aware of Health and Safety considerations.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Effective internal relationships and good teamwork focus.
- Basic IT skills in Office and email packages.
- Experience in delivering excellent customer service.
- Understanding of wastewater quality regulation.
- Experience in a procedural and regulated environment.
- Full valid driving licence.
- Self-motivated and able to manage workload independently.
- Ability to work at heights and within enclosed spaces.
- Basic understanding of wastewater treatment operations.
- Demonstrates Yorkshire Water company values.
- Experience in understanding business plans and delivering outputs.
- Flexibility in work approach, including weekend working.
You will also benefit from having:
- Previous experience in a regulated environment.
- Experience in the water or wastewater sectors.
- Knowledge of YW corporate systems.
- Regulatory awareness.
- Experience in a quality or sampling role.
Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Location: Ideally candidates should live in the east of the region, with travel around the wider Yorkshire region required.
