We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Design Manager to join our high performing team.
The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the overall design of the projects allocated to them, which will include appointing, managing and monitoring progress of consultants, designers and specialist sub-contractors. The Design Manager will ensure that the design is progressed in such a manner as to achieve all of the contracted deliverables, whilst maximising commercial opportunities and ensuring that all design information is released in lines with the requirements of the project construction programme and procurement schedule.

LOCATION: Newry
CONTRACT TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
HOURS: Monday – Friday (8am-5pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-2.30pm Fridays)
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare design programmes and Information Release Schedules, get designers and specialist sub-contractor buy-in to these timescales and then manage the process and monitor progress during the course of the project.
- Act as the Project Information Manager & liaise with the Project Team to achieve the project objectives.
- Lead, in the successful implementation and management of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes throughout all project phases from tender and preconstruction through project delivery and handover.
- Create, implement and maintain digital plans on the project including the BIM Execution plan, Asset Management Plan TIDP’s and MIDP.
- Lead the project BIM coordination meetings with all task teams.
- Develop and execute a BIM Coordination Schedule in line with the construction sequence to be used in BIM Coordination workshops
- Review key materials and interfaces to ensure they are fit for purpose and provide long-term durable solutions without exposing the Company to unnecessary latent maintenance or H&S risks.
- Review all design information to ensure it is clear, complete, meets statutory requirements, complies with the ERs and is fully coordinated with all other disciplines.
- Organise, schedule and chair technical meetings with members of the design team and supply chain, during the pre and construction phases of the project. Generate technical queries and monitor response performance.
- Attend Client meetings to report on design release/ design development progress, ensuring support and guidance is offered to the client in relation to requests and their obligations in the building design.
- Provide technical / commercial support to the project surveyor, in relation to design development, VE, potential variations and settlement of final accounts.
- Ensure design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate.
- Creating and maintaining good relations with Consultants, Clients and Contractors ensuring effective communication channels are in place.
The Candidate
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role within the UK or Irish construction industry.
- Degree in an Engineering or Design related subject
- Strong knowledge of Navisworks and Revit, other BIM software is desirable
- Strong attention to detail & solution driven
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction projects.
- Proven experience in creating co-ordinated, clear and coherent designs.

Additional information
- All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland at the time of application. Proof of this will be required for any candidate who is successful in the role.
- This role will at time to time, require working in other locations, including construction sites or at client offices. A degree of flexibility is therefore required.
