DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

ROLE PURPOSE: The Payroll Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the payroll function, with a particular focus on ROI wages for weekly and monthly paid employees, as well as related functions such as statutory deductions, pensions, and sick pay.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and review of weekly payroll for the company’s Irish jurisdiction, ensuring correct pay rates, deductions and net payments.
  • Perform weekly payroll reconciliations to ensure information is accurate.
  • Process new hires, changes, and terminations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Calculate payroll adjustments, including absences, bonuses and other deductions.
  • Prepare payroll related documentation, e.g. payslips.
  • Monitor employee clock-ins via time & attendance system and take action to correct any anomalies.
  • Maintain the time & attendance system, including identifying efficiencies and potential system enhancements to streamline processing.
  • Manage the payroll elements of employee benefit schemes.
  • Maintain control of company obligations relating to Benefit-in-Kind including employee personal and business mileage in relation to Company Vehicles and escalate tax compliance issues seeking internal or external guidance as appropriate.
  • Prepare payroll reports as and when required for company management.
  • Provide support in times of internal and external auditing.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with the People Team to ensure accurate information, and work to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Maintain the payroll inbox and answer any employee queries in a professional, timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide support to the wider Finance department as and when required.
  • Ensure professional knowledge is kept up to date, attending training as required.
  • Any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • A minimum of two years experience in a Payroll function with responsibility for processing payroll.
  • Whilst experience in relation to payroll for the Republic of Ireland would be advantageous, it is not essential.
  • Relevant payroll or finance qualifications.
  • Experience in using a payroll system such as Sage.
  • Demonstrable experience of using MS Office applications including but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Professional manner and ability to deal with colleagues across all levels of the company, up to and including Directors.
  • Organised and the ability to prioritise competing requests and varied workload.
  • Collaborative approach to work and ability to work well within a team.
