Join us as we move to our new city centre office and embark on a hyperscale data centre project in the North East. This expansion builds on the incredible successes and growth of our European-wide Critical Systems team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and client-focused Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Critical Systems team in Newcastle, and to play a leading role in delivering innovative electrical design solutions for some of the most notable and large-scale data centre projects worldwide.
You will collaborate within our critical systems team, working closely with colleagues from various disciplines to manage and deliver technically excellent and profitable projects. The role involves being deeply involved in the design process, producing design deliverables, managing your team of engineers, monitoring budgets and schedules, reviewing designs, and liaising with the wider project and client teams. You will leverage your expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication to motivate and inspire your colleagues, including mentoring less experienced engineers. You will receive support from senior staff within the team.
The Skills
- Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering or a Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng or equivalent).
- Experience in an electrical engineering role, preferably within data centres or critical systems (electrical distribution, power generation, etc.).
- Proven experience coordinating with other design disciplines.
- Well-versed in electrical theory and proficient in relevant design software.
- Ability to support team members, including junior engineers and CAD technicians.
- Demonstrated ability to produce schematic diagrams, conduct fault and discrimination studies, prepare specifications and reports, perform site inspections and surveys, and develop detailed designs.
- A passion for precise electrical system design is essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to use initiative to solve challenges are crucial, given the collaborative and client-focused nature of this role.
