The Cundall Vertical Transportation team provides lift and escalator consultancy services for a wide range of building types, including data centres, airports, shopping centres, residential developments, and offices. We are involved in all stages of construction projects, from the concept design of vertical transportation requirements to specification development and working with lift contractors to turn designs into reality. We assess existing lifts and escalators and provide building owners with advice on necessary upgrades or replacements. We also offer expert advice and support to building managers for the operational management of lifts and escalators under maintenance, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and planning future investments.
The Cundall VT team offers lift and escalator consultancy services as part of a coordinated multi-disciplinary design team or as a single-discipline consultancy service. As a member of the Cundall VT team, you will be supported by a team of experienced industry experts, will undertake further training to expand your skills and expertise, and be encouraged to work towards Chartered Engineer status. A personal desire and commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is essential and will be supported, including paid membership to relevant bodies such as the Society of Vertical Transportation, CIBSE, and Association of Project Safety.
The successful applicant will join the London Cundall VT department and the wider Cundall engineering team. The role involves site surveying and assessing existing lifts and vertical transportation equipment, report writing, developing specifications, managing and monitoring project delivery for clients, and acting as the CDM Principal Designer. You will represent Cundall in client interactions, providing clear and concise advice. You will attend and contribute to design meetings, offering vertical transportation advice to clients, architects, and engineers (both internal and external) on design issues related to new systems, refurbishment, and maintenance works.
The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering excellence, exceeding client expectations, and be willing to learn and challenge their peers. Experience in the lift and escalator field is essential, as lone working and safe working on lifts are role requirements. NVQ3 or NVQ4 qualifications are preferred, although EOR202 or relevant experience will be considered. A core requirement of the role is being the face of Cundall in client meetings and site interactions. Demonstrable ability to lead client interactions, build relationships, and take responsibility for delivering excellent service is key. A degree qualification in an engineering discipline is desirable but not essential.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential, as the regular production of written reports is a key aspect of the role. Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 suite of software is also required. A driving license is essential due to the need to visit sites. Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SharePoint 365, and Elevate software is desirable but not essential. Experience in a previous lift consultancy, maintenance contract management, or similar role is essential. The position is based in our central London office, with much of the work within the central London area.
