There is a great opportunity to join our Structural Engineering Team in Newcastle. We are looking for a structural engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience who is passionate about creative design, structural analysis and has an interest in digital engineering. You will be based in our newly opened and award-winning central Newcastle office and will be working with us on the design of regional, national and global projects.

The Role

As part of our team, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will be an important part of a project team in delivering projects including the preparation of structural analysis models, detailed structural calculations, sketches and specifications. This will involve all common structural materials, some experimental ones, and use of appropriate software. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills continue to develop, and as you are supported to and beyond your Chartership.

The Skills

  • You’ll have worked in a similar role previously and have the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • You’ll have a deep understanding of structural analysis, finite element modelling and structural design.
  • An understanding of digital engineering/optimisation techniques would also be desirable.
  • An understanding of sustainability and how it applies to structural engineering as well as the wider development industry would be desirable.
  • Being proficient in Tekla modelling is a requirement for this role.
  • You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, you strive to meet deadlines and have a close appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions.
  • Collaborative in nature, you’ll be able to empathise with your clients’ needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You’re used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude.
