There is a great opportunity to join our Structural Engineering Team in Newcastle. We are looking for structural engineers with approximately 5 years of experience who are passionate about creative design and structural analysis, are interested in complex structures and the challenges that come with them, and have strong digital engineering and modelling skills. You will be based in our multicultural and multidisciplinary newly relocated city centre office and will be working with us on the design of some of the most exciting and prestigious projects locally, in the UK and internationally.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Structural Engineer to join our team at our office in Newcastle to work on the design of some of the most exciting and prestigious construction projects in the UK and internationally. We have a fantastic pipeline of work which includes projects from the North East, across the UK and further afield. Recent local projects include Bank House, Pilgrim's Quarter and Pilgrim Place in Newcastle city centre, high-rise residential buildings in several locations across the North and our Data Centre projects which are located in the UK and across Europe.
As part of our established team of expert engineers and technicians, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will lead a project team in delivering projects including the preparation of detailed structural calculations, specifications and drawing packages. This will involve all structural materials and use of appropriate software. You will work across a variety of sectors such as education, commercial, critical systems, scitech and residential, and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills continue to develop, and as you work and are supported beyond Chartership.
The Skills
Having already been accredited with an MEng degree level (or equivalent) you will be close to being or will have recently become Chartered with IStructE or ICE. You will have gained strong practical experience of structural engineering within a consultancy environment, and a competent level of relevant IT skills including using structural design software such as Robot, Tekla and TEDDS with familiarity of coordinating projects using BIM 360 and ideally in using parametric design tools.
You have proven ability to produce creative design solutions in multiple materials including steel, reinforced concrete and masonry. Crucially, you will have a passion for creative, sustainable low carbon and intuitive design and to be able to demonstrate this. Given the collaborative and client focused nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
