We need engineers who share this passion for sustainability and thrive in designing energy efficient buildings and communities.
Cundall’s Fire Engineering team pride ourselves on our exemplary track record of providing innovative and sustainable fire engineering solutions, focused on ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, providing a safe environment without compromising the architectural integrity of the building design. Our team includes both fire engineering consultants and fire protection systems designers/engineers which enables us to offer integrated solutions and the successful individual would work alongside those members and undertake tasks for both fire engineering and design of fire protection systems.
The Fire Engineering team provide industry leading expertise – and offer a pro-active and collaborative approach to skill development, and professional excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Engineer to join the specialist Fire group in our Manchester office, to work on the design of some of the most exciting construction design projects in the UK and worldwide. Working across a variety of sectors such as Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Retail and Critical Systems, you will carry out detailed fire engineering design and develop fire strategies, fire hazard identification and fire risk assessment, smoke control design and code compliance review. Knowledge of fire suppression and fire alarm systems will be beneficial.
You will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, and will be supported towards Chartership. The successful candidate will be supported by dedicated senior members of our team.
Educated to degree level in Fire Engineering or in a related discipline, you have gained relevant experience in Fire Engineering design within a building services context (i.e. smoke control calculations, CFAST zone modelling, designing of sprinkler systems), and have proven your technical understanding in relevant design software. Experience in using Technical Handbooks is desirable.
You have a real interest in Fire Engineering and analysis for the built environment, and crucially - have a passion for creative and intuitive design. You have a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, are able to manage your own time to meet deadlines and you have an appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions. Given the collaborative and client-focused nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
We know that to be the best at what we do we need a diverse workforce underpinned by an inclusive culture.
