The RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for an ICT Consultant to join our dynamic team, developing your career, gaining global experience whilst working in your home office, opportunities for travel with projects, benefitting through knowledge sharing, CPD and chartership support.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior members of the team and wider project teams. You will support the design and implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems across a range of infrastructure projects.
As an ICT Consultant, you will play a key role in requirements capture, technical assessments, and developing strategies and solutions that meet project objectives, industry standards and best practices. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of ICT masterplans, site assessments and feasibility studies, design specifications, all whilst collaborating with internal and external multidisciplinary teams. Your contribution to the integration of digital technologies will demonstrate innovation and pushing technology boundaries.
Through your foundation knowledge of ICT systems based on an academic background with some work‑based experience, you will participate in:
- Support the technical lead for allocated projects, undertake the production of designs for projects, ensuring that designs conform to client requirements, health and safety laws, industry standards and best practices.
- Design ICT physical infrastructure to support passive and at times active systems such as structured cabling systems, extra‑low voltage building control and communications systems.
- Contribute to specifications, design, drawings and delivery of ICT and their supporting infrastructure.
- Be part of the QA and QC process as an author.
- Develop Performance Specifications for ICT using Revit, AutoCAD and BIM, including detailed calculations, technical specifications, drawings, Employers Requirements and tender documentation.
- Be involved with construction site visits to undertake compliance monitoring roles of ICT works, working alongside Senior members of the team.
- Collaborate within the wider Cundall Team and external partners, working closely with colleagues of various disciplines to support the delivery of technically excellent and successful projects.
- You will be supported by Senior management staff within the Team, embracing the collaborative and supportive behaviours Cundall exhibit. This includes line management, team mentors and chartership mentoring.
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as Electronics Engineering, ICT or Computer Sciences (MEng, BEng or BSc), and working towards or already a member of a professional institute such as Institute of Engineering and Technology, British Computer Society or Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. You will be aiming for a career in ICT and technology systems design and construction.
For the successful candidate you will have an awareness of the below:
- Ability to take ownership for tasks and deliverables.
- Capacity to problem solve and help the team and client towards solutions.
- Organised and confident communicator.
- Appropriate level of knowledge and experience in designing ICT systems such as:
- Structured cabling system, physical data cabling infrastructure.
- Active ICT Systems.
- Internet of Things (IoT).
- Satellite communications, antennas and aerials.
- GSM systems.
- Wi‑Fi mapping.
- Design of all assigned project drawings in accordance with company and project instructions. This includes single line drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, room layouts and rack face layouts.
- Conduct site visits and surveys as required to execute design work. This will include supervision and support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Working knowledge of document production using Autodesk software as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Interest or ability to code in languages such as Python.
- Be self‑motivated and have good communication written and spoken skills.
