The Ground Engineering team are an award-winning source of world leading expertise, bringing together their technical knowledge in the disciplines of environmental science, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering and engineering geology.
We are recruiting talented and creative Geotechnical students to join our team in Newcastle, London or Birmingham for a Summer Placement in 2026 to work on some of the most exciting construction projects in the UK and worldwide. Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, you will be involved with projects across all sectors including Education, Healthcare, Critical Systems, Industrial, Residential, Highways, Energy and Retail.
As part of your Summer Placement, you will contribute to desk based research, the design, management and reporting of ground investigations and development of ground models and material parameters. You will also assist with geotechnical calculations and analysis, contaminated land risk assessments and the development of remedial strategies.
The Skills
- On track to achieve a 2:1 or above
- Working towards a degree in Earth Sciences or Civil Engineering, or similar
- Preferably be in your second or third year of study or between completing an undergraduate degree and about to commence a Masters
- Have a passion for improving the built environment
- Be interested in design and sustainable design principles
