This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Building Services Technician or Senior Building Services Technician (dependent upon experience) to join our team at our office in Birmingham to produce & coordinate BIM Models & Drawings for RIBA Stages 2-4 MEP Design for a wide range of exciting local & international building projects. As part of our established team of expert Engineers, Technicians & BIM Managers, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will develop coordinated BIM Models & Drawings following Cundall’s Templates & Design Standards. Additionally, you will have opportunities to use a variety of other digital engineering tools and software to support the design & coordination processes.

You will be expected to manage models from set up, view and sheet creation through to final issue with incorporated asset data. You will input COBie, IFC, Uniclass data into Models as and when required as per the Project BIM Execution Plan and Exchange Information Requirements. Depending on your experience, sufficient training will be provided to allow you to fulfil these duties. Where models are produced by engineers, you will review the models running clash detection and providing reports to engineers to aid coordination. If training is required to complete this then it shall be provided as part of the role.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our Automation Developments for Revit & BIM by submitting Ideas to our in-house Digital Team to be developed and incorporated into our standard ways of working, helping to drive forward Cundall’s Automation and improving business efficiency.

The Skills

  • You will have a background in Building Services and have experience with Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health Disciplines, educated ideally to HNC Level or higher within the subject.
  • You will have gained strong practical experience of BIM and using Revit in a similar role within the industry working either at Consultancies and/or Specialist MEP Contractors.
  • Having an understanding of how to utilise Autodesk Construction Cloud alongside Revit for model management and clash detection, and knowledge of how to use Navisworks for Clash Detection for MEP Services is advantageous, though sufficient training on this can be provided if needed.
  • You will be able to work to Cundall Standards and Templates and be able to produce models and drawings independently and from mark-ups as and when required (Sketches and Bluebeam PDFs).
  • You will also be able to produce MEP Services Models & Drawings that are coordinated and fit within the constraints of the building layout on various projects.
  • Having an understanding of the RIBA plan of works, BSRIA BG6 and the various stages included as part of it, as well as the Level of Detail needed for each stage is advantageous; however, training can be provided as required around this matter.
  • Furthermore, at least a brief understanding of the concepts of ISO 19650 would be advantageous.
  • You will be adept at planning and organising your workload alongside the BIM Manager and communicating effectively with Engineers, Technicians and BIM Leads.
  • You will have proven experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines, and share Cundall’s passion for creative, sustainable and intuitive design.
