We are looking for a talented Electronic Hardware Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Drivetrain & Braking Systems advanced Engineering group in Nuneaton, United Kingdom.
This role might require up to 25% of domestic and international travel.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Architect next-generation braking and steering electronics: Define scalable ECU, sensor, and actuator hardware architectures that enable safe, reliable, and high-performance control systems for commercial vehicles.

Drive innovation in safety-critical hardware design: Lead the development of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics that support advanced braking and steering technologies.

Ensure compliance and product integrity: Embed functional safety, EMC/EMI, environmental, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements into hardware designs from concept through production.

Influence key technical decisions: Select microcontrollers, processors, communication interfaces, power devices, and sensors that optimize performance, cost, and long-term scalability.

Enable seamless system integration: Partner with software, controls, systems, and mechanical engineering teams to deliver robust hardware-software solutions that meet vehicle-level requirements.

Accelerate product development and validation: Lead design reviews, prototype bring-up, debugging, verification, and qualification testing to ensure products are production-ready.

Solve complex engineering challenges: Conduct root cause analysis and drive resolution of technical issues during development, validation, and manufacturing phases.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship: Guide cross-functional teams and support the growth of junior engineers while establishing engineering best practices across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Bring deep expertise in automotive electronics: Leverage extensive experience designing ECUs, sensors, and actuator control systems, with strong knowledge of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics.

Apply advanced hardware architecture and validation knowledge: Utilize expertise in microcontrollers, automotive communication networks, PCB design, EMC/EMI, signal integrity, and hardware verification to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.

Champion safety, quality, and compliance: Demonstrate a strong understanding of ISO 26262, hardware safety analysis, automotive development processes, and requirements management to ensure reliable and compliant products.

Collaborate and innovate across disciplines: Work effectively with software, controls, systems, mechanical engineering, and suppliers while applying knowledge of commercial vehicle technologies, cybersecurity, and next-generation braking and steering systems.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:

College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
