We are looking for an enthusiastic Advanced Engineering student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Components (Accelera) business unit in Milton Keynes. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential! This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2026.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • The role would involve a mixture of both hands-on assembly and design-based tasks, with focus on learning about how the effects of structural and thermal influences on the Li-ion cell would affect the life and performance.
  • Learn how to plan, design, assemble and run experimental tests with Li-ion battery cells in a lab environment.
  • Learn about how the structural and thermal impacts affect Li-ion battery life and performance.
  • Analyse the experimental or testing data and create reports outlining the key findings and sharing the information in team meetings.
  • Learn the basics of how batteries are designed, manufactured, assembled, and validated to meet the applications technical requirements.
  • Participate within a team of Scientists, Engineers, and Technicians to enhance our understanding about the challenges and opportunities for Li-ion technology in the electrification of commercial vehicles.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Student studying for a BEng or MEng in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace/Aeronautical engineering.
  • Ideally, a student who has completed 2 years of the degree.
  • Good work ethic, sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point.
