We are looking for a talented Packaging Technician to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Production Scheduling Department in Huddersfield, United Kingdom. This is a permanent position based onsite with some flexibility working Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3.00pm.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Operational excellence: Support site level packaging operations with minimal supervision, ensuring daily activities run smoothly and packaging related changes improve efficiency, cost and sustainability.
  • Packaging compliance: Review and maintain packing specifications to meet customer requirements, quality standards and operational controls across new and existing projects.
  • Cost and waste reduction: Lead and deliver packaging cost reduction initiatives, including improved material selection, optimized specifications and reduced consumable usage.
  • Sustainability and tax reporting: Accurately calculate and report plastic and wood usage to ensure UK packaging tax compliance and support sustainability objectives.
  • Inventory and system control: Manage returnable emballage stock, including ordering, stock counts and reporting through the supplier hub, aligned to build plans.
  • Cross functional collaboration: Work closely with Plant VPI, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, HSE, account managers and global packaging teams to deliver robust packaging solutions.
  • Supplier partnership: Partner directly with packaging suppliers to design, qualify and implement new packaging solutions that meet safety, quality, cost and environmental needs.
  • Issue resolution and capability building: Respond quickly to urgent packaging issues impacting safety, quality or production, while informally supporting and guiding less experienced Packaging Technicians.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Technical packaging expertise: Strong understanding of packaging specifications, materials, returnable emballage systems and operational controls to design solutions that meet customer, quality and plant requirements.
  • Commercial and analytical skills: Ability to plan consumable packaging against build plans, manage stock accurately, and calculate and report plastic and wood usage for UK tax and cost control.
  • Project and stakeholder management: Confidence to lead packaging cost reduction projects, work closely with Plant VPI, Quality and account managers, and collaborate with regional and global packaging teams.
  • Problem solving and ownership: Proactive mindset to identify opportunities, respond effectively to customer complaints or change requests, and deliver robust, compliant packaging solutions under minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • A two-year University degree from an accredited program in Business, Engineering or a relevant field of study preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports and advanced level computer skills.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in a related field.

The compensation for this role is aligned with a local bargained or unionised agreement.
