We are looking for a talented Product Engineering Specialist to join our team, specialising in Engineering for our PSBU department in Daventry, United Kingdom. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Assess legacy and current system solutions, producing clear recommendations and technical documentation to support engine and generator set technical decisions.
- Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system requirements and track them throughout the complete product lifecycle.
- Analyse the impact of requirement changes on scope, schedule and resources, ensuring informed decision-making.
- Apply systems thinking to define system boundaries, interfaces and lifecycle considerations to support effective planning and delivery.
- Investigate complex product issues, identify causal mechanisms and contribute to robust problem resolution.
- Own and engage in the resolution of Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG) and Before In Service (BIS) driven product issues through structured problem-solving to enable high-quality engineering outcomes.
- Utilise key technical tools and processes, including Engineering Solutions that Work (ESW), Functional Excellence Practice (FEP), Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (iDFMEA), as well as Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA).
- Communicate and coordinate with production, component subsystem, quality and manufacturing engineers, as well as suppliers, to gather inputs and requirements to deliver well-founded recommendations.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and supporting high‑quality engineering practices.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Experience gained through internships, placements, co‑op roles or early‑career technical positions within engineering or a related discipline.
- Ability to analyse technical problems, apply structured methods and contribute to effective engineering solutions.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to document technical information clearly for a range of stakeholders.
- Familiarity with MS Office tools and an interest in developing proficiency with engineering processes, tools and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant technical discipline.
- Exposure to product development, system requirements or technical project work during studies or early career is advantageous.
- Willingness to participate in rotational on-call support as part of professional development.
