We are looking for a talented Product Functional Test Instrumentation Technician to join our Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems (CDBS) organisation in Cwmbran, Wales, UK, supporting product functional testing through high‑quality instrumentation and test system expertise. Shift pattern is currently mornings, with the potential to expand to a mix of morning and afternoon shifts in line with business needs.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Keep product testing running smoothly by installing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure reliable and repeatable test data by setting up and supporting effective data acquisition systems.
  • Support successful product testing by building and instrumenting test articles to defined requirements.
  • Reduce downtime by troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation and test system issues efficiently.
  • Strengthen test capability by supporting the introduction of new equipment and technologies.
  • Maintain safe, compliant, and well-organised test environments, rigs, and equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through problem solving, quality procedures, and improvement projects.
  • Support team capability by collaborating with engineers, technicians, suppliers, and apprentices.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation, calibration, and data acquisition in a test or laboratory environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and instrumentation systems.
  • A methodical and safety-focused approach when working with complex test setups and equipment.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Education/Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant STEM field.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship in a related field, such as electrical, mechanical, or maintenance engineering, with a focus on hydraulics and pneumatics, would be beneficial.
