We're recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded, long-established accountancy and business advisory firm with an excellent reputation across Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a well-established personal tax portfolio within a friendly and collaborative team. You'll play a key role in delivering expert advice and exceptional service to a broad range of clients, including company directors, business owners and high-net-worth individuals.

The role:

  • Managing a substantial portfolio of personal tax clients
  • Preparing and reviewing approximately 700 personal income tax returns
  • Advising clients on personal income tax matters and tax planning opportunities
  • Providing guidance on Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax matters
  • Preparing and reviewing P11Ds and advising on benefits in kind
  • Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted adviser
  • Working closely with colleagues across the wider tax and accounts teams
  • Ensuring compliance with changing legislation and identifying opportunities to add value to clients
  • Supporting process improvements and maintaining high standards of client service

About you:

  • Previous experience within personal tax, ideally gained within an accountancy practice environment
  • ATT qualified, studying towards ATT or qualified by experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal taxation, including Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax
  • Experience of preparing and reviewing personal tax returns and P11Ds
  • Excellent attention to detail and a highly organised approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships
  • A proactive, service-focused mindset and the confidence to advise and support clients effectively
