We are looking for a proactive and organised Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials and services that support day-to-day operations. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will help drive value, maintain continuity of supply, and contribute to continuous improvement across procurement activities. What you'll be doing:
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships, including supplier meetings, onboarding, and performance monitoring
- Support the Senior Buyer with contract reviews and supplier negotiations
- Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, from requisitions through to accurate and timely purchase order placement
- Procure direct and indirect materials and services, ensuring best value in terms of cost, quality, specification, and availability
- Monitor inventory levels and support effective stock management in line with business and financial objectives
- Analyse spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities and support the delivery of savings initiatives
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, system updates, and supplier records
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to resolve supply issues and ensure smooth purchase order management
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement processes and relevant legislation
What we're looking for:
- At least 2 years experience in a Purchasing or Procurement role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Working towards or qualified to CIPS Level 4, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Commercially minded, with a focus on value and business impact
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with MRP systems; SAP experience is desirable but not essential
- Confident user of Excel and other IT systems, with strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of UK importing requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks is advantageous
