DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Materials Specialist - Inventory to join our team specializing in Inventory Control for our Materials Department in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week on-site. Shift pattern:

  • Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Improve Inventory Accuracy: Through proactive reconciliation and repositioning of excess inventory, you’ll help balance supply and demand while reducing waste and obsolescence.

  • Resolve Financial Discrepancies: Your investigation and resolution of invoice and GRNI issues will support financial accuracy and streamline procurement processes.

  • Foster Team Collaboration & Growth: Through effective communication, training, and participation in improvement projects, you’ll contribute to a high-performing, continuously evolving team environment.

  • Optimize Material Flow: You’ll ensure timely and accurate ordering of materials to meet production and customer demand, directly influencing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Champion Safety & Compliance: By actively engaging in HSE training and reporting hazards or incidents, you’ll help foster a safer, more compliant workplace culture.

  • Elevate Quality Standards: Your attention to master data accuracy and collaboration with the Quality team will reduce non-conforming materials and support a robust Plan for Every Part (PFEP).

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Proficiency in Materials Planning Systems: You must be adept at using enterprise planning tools (e.g., ERP systems) to manage supply and demand, resolve exceptions, and perform root cause analysis—while supplementing with tools like Excel or Access when needed.

  • Mastery of PFEP Principles: A deep understanding of Plan for Every Part (PFEP) is essential to optimize material flow, synchronize supply chain elements, and ensure the right parts reach the right place at the right time.

  • KPI-Driven Decision Making: Success hinges on your ability to interpret materials KPIs, identify performance gaps, and make strategic trade-offs that improve supply chain outcomes without compromising other metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Experience:

  • College, University or equivalent degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience in an equivalent field such as materials planning, production scheduling, manufacturing, or inventory control.

  • Strong I.T. capability - Strong user level of Excel, Oracle and other tools.

  • Good understanding of Inventory Control systems, Manufacturing operations & MRP systems, including JIT, Kanban, SMI, Production control, Order management and Component scheduling.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
