Placement Student (12 Weeks) - Engineering
We are looking for an enthusiastic Engineering Summer (12 Weeks) Placement Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Turbocharger business segment in Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.
The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Work cross functionally across a wide range of global stakeholders to support with the continued development of new and existing Cummins products.
- Develop advanced problem solving skills by designing, testing, analysing and assessing components.
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders by raising test requests, participating in team meetings and presenting test data and conclusions (Technical Reviews,) contributing to follow up problem solving sessions discussing how to improve components and process flows.
- Assisting in the concept design, development and testing of future turbo machine technology as part of an innovative and fast paced team at the forefront of turbocharger technology.
- Develop knowledge of the internal workings of a turbocharger by being directly involved in the strip down, inspection and failure analysis of returned field units, or units that have completed tests.
- Direct involvement in key research, investigative or customer issue resolution work, including researching and analysing new materials, developing new test techniques and evaluating concepts.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- We are looking for a wide range of applicants studying towards a STEM degree.
- Ability to work successfully as part of a team with experience contributing to or leading a group project.
- Strong desire to learn with knowledge of the practical application of science or engineering concepts.
- Good level of skill using Microsoft applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
