We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice to join our team specializing in Quality Assurance for our Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems Division in UK, Cwmbran.
During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
Summary of the course: The Apprentice role is a developmental position within the commercial vehicle Braking Systems Division. During the apprenticeship you will work 5 days per week, inclusive of 1 day per week for study at college. The working hours are 37 hours per week. On completion of this apprenticeship, you will obtain a NVQ level 3 qualification. For the job role on offer, the first-year training will be based on level 2 eal NVQ General Engineering practices. After completion of the first year the successful applicant will complete the remainder of their training based on level 3 eal NVQ.
Responsibilities
- Learn Core Quality tools including 8D, Ishikawa, 5 whys
- Learn to interpret Engineering Drawings and CAD models
- Learn to perform product inspection using a variety of metrology equipment, including CMM, 3D digital scanning, micrometers, vernier calipers and gauges
- Learn to perform gauge calibration to the required industry standards
- Gain a basic knowledge of metallurgical properties of various materials and test / inspection processes
- Learn and gain best practice (APQP) Quality Procedures
Qualifications
- Essential β 5 GCSEs grade A to C. This must include a B, or above, in Maths and at least C in Science and English Language (or Welsh as a first language)
- Ability to take ownership of the working environment
- Be able to naturally maintain an infectious positive attitude
- Feel passion towards their work/Engineering, be driven and self-motivated
- Show the ability to be able to make confident decisions in a working environment
