We are looking for a talented Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician to join our team specializing in Engineering for Cummins in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Prepare and assemble test articles for evaluation, including initial build, instrumentation installation, and final teardown following engineering standards.
- Conduct component testing within service cabins, focusing on Aftertreatment System (ATS) parts such as DEF pumps, injectors, EGTS, and Dp sensors.
- Collaborate with the CMHF team to recover tested components for detailed failure analysis.
- Perform analysis of returned components, align failure modes with CMHF and service engineers, and document results in the CCIMS system.
- Support and execute product testing according to established procedures, ensuring test validity through proper setup and equipment usage.
- Set up and maintain test stands, rigs, and fixtures, including performing troubleshooting and equipment upkeep as needed.
- Demonstrate an understanding of test equipment functionality and the operation of products under test to ensure reliable results.
- Continuously track and improve the analysis process to meet efficiency and quality requirements from customers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Hands-on experience with component products, test tools, and ATS-related components; skilled in identifying failure modes through daily parts analysis using standard test equipment.
- Proficient in using diagnostic and reporting tools such as FTA, CCIMS, and Cummins service tools (e.g., INSITE, Calterm), along with strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences; actively supports a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Action-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and testing challenges; consistently meets tasks with urgency, enthusiasm, and energy.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
- Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
