We are looking for an enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineering student to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Industrial Engineering business unit in Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential! This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 14th July 2025; this placement is 100% site-based.
Responsibilities
- Using LEAN tools (including 5S) and methodologies to drive continuous improvements across the Manufacturing process.
- Planning, design, purchase and implementation of integrated manufacturing and assembly processes, managing different projects of varying sizes to successful conclusions.
- Compiling and presenting data on Key Performance Indicators, chairing meetings to discuss required details.
- Work as part of a team implementing process improvements within the Assembly Process.
- Participate in the design/layout of new and existing workstations to improve efficiency and accommodate new tooling and products.
- Review/develop assembly workstation documentation including assembly graphics using CREO/CAD.
Qualifications
- We are looking for a wide range of candidates studying towards a degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Systems/Controls Engineering or similar.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills, and a keen willingness to learn.
- A good level of IT skills including the use of Microsoft applications; Minitab experience would also be beneficial although is not essential.
- Experience with CREO/CAD would also be beneficial, although is not essential.
