We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environmental Technician to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Accelera Business in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. This is a 12-month contract role.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs, ensuring alignment with corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying hazards, applying risk assessments, and encouraging safe behaviours across teams.
- Assist in incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis to help prevent recurrence and strengthen corrective actions.
- Contribute to HSE inspections and audit programs, helping identify gaps and supporting timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential HSE records in line with data protection and retention standards.
- Analyze HSE data and trends to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support environmental management activities and sustainability initiatives within the site or function.
- Lead hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to proactively identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to raise HSE awareness, support engagement initiatives, and drive an interdependent safety culture.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of HSE fundamentals, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety compliance practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and influence safe behaviours.
- Ability to take initiative, act with urgency, and remain resilient when addressing challenges or incidents.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to learn quickly, adapt, and optimise processes.
- Strong capability to coordinate and drive site-specific safety initiatives and HSE project work in partnership with operational and functional stakeholders.
- Visible, credible HSE leadership through regular shop-floor engagement, promoting safe behaviours, encouraging workforce participation, and reinforcing health and safety expectations.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or certificate of secondary education (or equivalent experience in line with regulatory requirements).
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised HSE qualification), or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- College or university degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field preferred.
- Some relevant work experience or intermediate-level knowledge gained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
- Basic understanding of HSE management systems, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting safety programs, inspections, audits, or incident reporting processes is advantageous.
