We are looking for a talented Product Functional Test Mechanical Tech to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems Business Unit in Cwmbran, United Kingdom.
Shift Pattern:
- 6 weeks of mornings: Mon-Thu 6am-2pm, Fri 6am-1:30pm
- 1 week of afternoons: Mon-Thu 2pm-10pm, Fri 10:30am-6pm
Impact Areas:
- Driving 5S & Continuous Improvement: Actively embed 5S principles and improvement initiatives to enhance safety, flow and efficiency across the test lab.
- Accurate Test Execution: Perform tests strictly following established procedures, ensuring every result is reliable, repeatable and compliant with standards.
- High‑Quality Test Article Preparation: Build, repair and prepare test components and auxiliary equipment to guarantee readiness and consistency for every test cycle.
- Expert Test Setup & Installation: Install test articles into rigs, tables or cells with precision, ensuring correct configuration for valid and meaningful test outcomes.
- Advanced Data Acquisition & Analysis: Configure and operate data acquisition systems and review data for accuracy, supporting strong engineering decisions.
- Product & Equipment Understanding: Apply deep knowledge of both the product and test equipment to assess result validity and identify potential issues early.
- Lab Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Keep test stands and laboratory equipment in optimal condition through proactive maintenance, problem‑solving and timely repairs.
- Engineering Support & Recommendations: Provide valuable insights to engineering teams on equipment evaluation, facility upgrades and instrumentation improvements.

- Technical Knowledge & Precision: Strong understanding of brake systems, test equipment and test procedures to execute setups and testing accurately and consistently.

- Analytical & Data Skills: Ability to operate data acquisition systems, review results for accuracy and interpret findings to support engineering decisions.
- Hands‑On Problem‑Solving: Skilled in assembling, repairing and troubleshooting test articles and lab equipment to ensure smooth testing operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
- Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
- May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
- Must be apprentice‑trained in Mechanical Engineering with proven hands‑on, practical experience.
The compensation for this role is aligned with a local bargained or unionised agreement. Due to the operational nature and specific job duties of this role, work is required to be completed 100% in person/On-site.
