Cumming Group is a global consultancy providing project management, cost management, and commercial advisory services across construction, infrastructure, and the built environment. We partner with major public and private sector organisations to deliver complex programmes efficiently, collaboratively, and sustainably.
As part of our continued growth in the UK infrastructure sector, we are looking to appoint an experienced Cost Manager to support the delivery of a major regional capital investment programme.
The Role
This role sits within Cumming Group’s commercial and cost management team, supporting the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects within a collaborative, multi-partner environment. You will provide commercial insight and assurance across procurement, contract management, and project delivery, acting as a trusted advisor to project teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional quantity surveying and commercial management support across major infrastructure projects
- Balance competing project, stakeholder, and programme priorities to support outcome-led decision making
- Deliver timely commercial advice, reporting, and escalation to senior stakeholders
- Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
- Support compliant procurement activities in line with regulatory and governance requirements
- Manage and maintain high-quality commercial and contractual data
- Commercially manage works and service contracts throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead post-contract commercial processes including change management, cost forecasting, payments, cost audits, and final accounts
- Support negotiation and resolution of contractual claims and disputes
- Maintain accurate cost and contract information to support robust reporting and assurance
- Contribute to continuous improvement in commercial processes, cost efficiency, and value delivery
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant experience
- Proven experience in a construction or infrastructure environment
- Strong knowledge of quantity surveying processes across the full project lifecycle
- Experience working with standard forms of construction contract, ideally including NEC
- Confident commercial and contractual negotiation skills
- Experience managing commercial aspects of projects or programmes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Chartered or working towards chartership (RICS, ICE, or equivalent) is desirable
