Cumming Management Group, a Cost and Project Management Consultancy within the construction industry, provides a wide range of services to clients spanning several different sectors. Cumming Management Group are seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor in Manchester. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor who can work on a number of exciting projects in Manchester. There will be a focus on professional work on a wide variety of selected projects, sectors and value to allow for a diverse opportunity including:

  • BTR and Residential new build projects
  • Student Accommodation new build projects
  • Re-cladding projects

The role of a Quantity Surveyor includes the following responsibilities:

  • Provide cost management services through pre and post contract process
  • To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
  • To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
  • Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
  • Assist and drive forward the preparation of cost plans; including measurement
  • Support with Value engineering studies and analysis
  • Work with senior members of staff to gather market testing data of key elements for the developments
  • Support and assist the data analysis on design efficiencies, benchmark comparison
  • Prepare and assist with the preparing and issuing tender documents, evaluations, contract documentations and reports
  • Prepare and assist with the scrutinising and verifying applications for interim payments
  • Prepare and assist with the management of change control in accordance with contracts
  • Prepare and assist with the production of cost reports and cost forecasting
  • Advising and liaising with internal project and cost control team

Key Attributes:

  • Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline
  • Working towards Chartered status
  • Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in construction industry
  • Previously employed by a consultancy or end user client
  • Likeable and warm personality which will fit in and become an integral part of the team
  • A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
