Cumming Management Group, a Cost and Project Management Consultancy within the construction industry, provides a wide range of services to clients spanning several different sectors. Cumming Management Group are seeking to recruit a Cost Manager in Manchester. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Cost Manager who can work on a number of exciting projects in Manchester.
There will be a focus on professional work on a wide variety of selected projects, sectors and value to allow for a diverse opportunity including:
- BTR and Residential new build projects
- Hotel new build projects
- Student Accommodation new build projects
- Re-cladding projects
The role of a Cost Manager includes the following responsibilities:
- Provide cost management services through pre and post contract process
- To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
- To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
- Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
- Assist and drive forward the preparation of cost plans; including measurement
- Support with Value engineering studies and analysis
- Work with senior members of staff to gather market testing data of key elements for the developments
- Support and assist the data analysis on design efficiencies, benchmark comparison
- Prepare and assist with the preparing and issuing tender documents, evaluations, contract documentations and reports
- Prepare and assist with the scrutinising and verifying applications for interim payments
- Preparing certificates
- Prepare and assist with the management of change control in accordance with contracts
- Prepare and assist with the production of cost reports and cost forecasting
- Attending progress meetings
- Advising and liaising with internal project and cost control team
Key Attributes:
- Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline
- Working towards Chartered status
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in construction industry
- Competent at providing measurement using CATO, Bluebeam or similar
- Previously employed by a consultancy or end user client
- A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
- Likeable and warm personality which will fit in and become an integral part of the team
- A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
