Cumming Group is an international project and cost management consultancy delivering innovative solutions across infrastructure, real estate, and construction. We are looking for a Cost Engineer to join our growing Cost Intelligence team, supporting some of the UK's largest infrastructure and water sector investment programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in estimating, cost engineering, quantity surveying, project controls, commercial management, or cost analytics who is looking to broaden their expertise and work on nationally significant projects.

The Role

Unlike traditional estimating positions, this role focuses on understanding, validating, benchmarking, and assuring project costs to support major investment decisions. Working alongside experienced Cost Intelligence specialists, you'll help clients assess affordability, cost confidence, risk, and deliverability across major infrastructure programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review Capex, Opex, Totex, whole-life cost, and carbon estimates.
  • Apply benchmarking, cost modelling, and cost intelligence techniques to improve estimate quality and confidence.
  • Analyse historical cost data, market intelligence, and project performance data.
  • Support business cases, investment decisions, project approvals, and regulatory submissions.
  • Produce technical reports, benchmarking studies, estimate basis documents, and supporting analyses.
  • Participate in cost assurance reviews and technical assessments.
  • Support clients in understanding project affordability, risk, uncertainty, and deliverability.
  • Contribute to the development of Cost Intelligence methodologies, tools, systems, and datasets.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across major infrastructure programmes.
