The Role
Cumming Group is recruiting an Associate Building Surveyor to join our London office. As an Associate Building Surveyor, you will provide expert‑level consultancy and project support for construction projects across various stages and sectors—from concept design to construction completion. You will partner with a diverse set of clients and internal teams to deliver exceptional value, acting as a trusted advisor and helping to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high quality of service on the projects you manage and take full ownership, ensuring all aspects of the project are considered.
- Develop your management skills by managing colleagues for the delivery of your projects, working closely with staff across the team.
- Manage projects to a high standard that exceeds client expectations, via ownership and responsibility of tasks.
- Run projects to budget and programme, establishing and maintaining correct reporting lines.
- Identify and resolve client issues or concerns and know when to escalate to senior members.
- Mentor junior team members and provide formal and informal feedback to encourage skill development.
- Grow your personal and professional profile through internal and external events, seminars and networks.
- Be a trusted member of the business and respected by peers and leadership.
Qualifications
- RICS qualified, preferably with 5 years’ relevant post‑qualification commercial surveying experience (considered a plus).
- Proven track record in project management.
- Good appreciation of professional and project‑based building surveying matters.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, knowledgeable persona and business acumen.
- Build, develop and maintain business and client relationships.
- Organise and prioritise tasks to meet agreed timeframes.
- Provide concise and clear written communication.
- Understand the local and wider property market.
- Actively contribute to business development activities, maintaining and growing key client relationships.
